ORLGA President’s Cup 2010
Matches take place April through July

Playoffs take place August through mid September
Getting Ready For The Match:
The President’s Cup is a two person match play competition, which is also called a four-ball competition.
You will sign up as a team (12 stroke maximum index between partners), or if you don’t have a partner,
sign up alone and, if possible, someone will pair up with you. After the deadline sign up of March 31,
teams will be sorted by combined index and divided into flights. March 15 indexes will be used to
determine flights. You will play matches against the teams in your flight. Matches can be played at any
time, on any course, as long as all players agree. They can also be played on league time if space is
available. Flights will have 5 or 6 teams, so this means arranging 4 or 5 matches. It is important that all
matches are completed in a timely manner.

Handicap Procedures: The low handicap player has NO strokes and the other three players
have the difference between their handicap and the low handicap. For example: If Michelle Sherwood
(16) and Joan Hill (25) were playing against Doris McLaughlin (24) and Peggy Rowland (27),
Michelle would have NO strokes. Joan would have 9, Doris 8, and Peggy 11. These numbers reflect
our handicaps minus Michelle’s 16 strokes. Handicaps will be used at 100% for all matches. Players
will use the handicaps appropriate for the time matches are played. For example, if a match is May 10,
you would use the May 1st handicap.
Scoring: Teams receive points for winning front, back and total score, There are 3 points in each
match. The team with the highest number of points in each flight will play off against the other winning
teams for the President’s Cup award. If a team or teams have to withdraw from their flight, any games
played will be removed as if not played. If teams tie within their flight and end up tied, there will have to
be a playoff between the tied teams. If one of the tied teams have beaten the other team, the winning
team wins the flight. The year end playoffs will be determind by the General Numerical Draw as
recommended by the USGA. For example, winners of Flight A will play winners of Flight H, B will play G,
and so forth. Ties in the playoffs will be determined by sudden death which can be played following the
18 hole completion or another day. Playoff matches should be completed by the middle of September.
The $10 entry fee for the tournament will be returned in prize money to the flights.
